#1 The sight

He is just a regular guy. He is not the person one might expect to be noticed in a crowd. He is plain simple in all terms, in the clothes he wear, the way he walk, the conversation s he make, everything is normal.

There is nothing special about him for the people who know him. So what’s making this guy different is what this story about. Sam.

Sam always wanted a girl friend. To the society he lives in and the people around him were too conservative for such a thing to happen. Sam was not the partying type.

He just wanted a person to talk too and share his love.
“If I had a girl friend” Sam used to say “I’ll be definitely serious about the affair and love her like life”.

“Ya right ! “ his friend, David used to exclaim.

David is Sam’s best friend and the one that supports him in everything he does. There are a lot of differences between Sam and David. It is this differences that brings them closer, as David used to say. David has his won story to speak about. He had ten girl friends during a period of 6 months which he claims is a record yet to be broken. He finds girls as objects of desire and fun. He keeps changing his girl friends as often as he changes his word.

And David was infamous for not keeping his word.

“How do you do this ? What does the girls like in the guys?” the questions keep on coming from Sam’s desperate mouth.

“Luck” is all what David says to the questions. He was tired of Sam’s weird questions. He knew that Sam was better good looking and definitely the better choice than him among the women. The only problem was that Sam was not popular. The people around don’t even know such a guy exist.

One day Sam came up to David smiling. There was something behind the smile, David thought. “What is it?” asked David.

“Nothing” said Sam. “A gal???” asked David.
“Nope!!!!” said Sam stressing on it.
“ I know it is” exclaimed David.
“ Just tell me who it is okay. What if it is one of my girl friends. I don’t’ want to bring you into trouble buddy!!!”.

Sarcasm was evident in the words.
“ I SAID nothing right !!!! Give me some peace” shouted Sam. He hated how David sometimes talked and this sometimes pissed him off.

“Okay okay, give me a break!!! .Tell me if you want to” said David.
David rose from his seat and walked away.

Sam saw her near the doorway to the café. Sam and David usually hang out at this café. She was not beautiful; it was not love at first sight. It was just a regular sight. But some how,Sam felt that she meant something for him. There was something special about her. That’s what didn’t make sense to him.

“I saw her again” Sam shouted over the tables.

David turned and looked at Sam and smiled. “ who?” David returned to the table and sat next to Sam.

“Who?” he repeated.

“Angel” said Sam. “Who Angel?” asked David surprised.

“Her” said Sam pointing to the waitress at the café. She was serving the table next to them.

“Angel Rosy” read David from the ID tag that she was wearing.

“Did you meet her?” asked David.

“No” “So you just read the tag huh?”

“Yes, like you did”, Sam was smiling.

“Dummbo” exclaimed David.

“I want to meet her” “You should, go ahead and meet her, come on don’t be a child, go ahead!” said David.
“Okay, you don’t think its gonna be much trouble do you?”

“Nope, you are talking to the expert” said david.

Sam stood up from the seat and walked towards the girl. She was now at the counter talking to the girl at the counter. Sam walked at a slow pace carefully placing each step.

#2 The meeting

He wanted to reach there as soon as possible. But he couldn’t feel his legs. Her sight made him heavy inside.

Sam reached for the chair next to her. He sat on it carefully. He could feel her presence overwhelming him. He carefully coined his actions and words started pouring.

“Hello there”
“mmm” was what she said while turning.
May be she didn’t hear him in the first place. Sam thought.
“Hello I am Sam.” He tried again. Desperation could be felt in him. He could feel it too. He just wanted to run away. But he had to go on, it was his only chance.

“Ya I know” she replied.

Sam felt like God. He couldn’t believe his ears. He didn’t except this answer from her. ‘What’s’ next’ was the only thing now troubling him.

“Okaie” Sam said, searching for words. He went numb.

“You come to this café often. Don’t you?” She asked.

“Ya I do”.

“I am Angel” she said extending her hands.

Sam quickly grabbed them and exchanged a firm shake hand. “ Ya I know too” Sam said looking at her ID tag.

Her eyes turned to her tag and then she burst into laughter.

Now Sam couldn’t believe his eyes. ‘ Man she is so incredible’ Sam thought.

Her laughter engulfed Sam into deeper thoughts. He wondered how she could exist. She was simply great.

“Where are you from?” She asked.

This startled Sam. Sam quickly regained consciousness and prepared for the answer.

“Near by” Sam said, “what’s plans for today?”

“Well nothing” she said.
“Dinner at Mc Kinsey’s?” Sam asked and prayed she would comply.
“Okay that would be great, I would love to” She answered.
Now Sam couldn’t believe anything that is happening around. He couldn’t feel his legs his arms. He felt stiff. He couldn’t say when was the last time he was as happy as he is now. May be the time has come for him too. He felt like he accomplished something, he felt victorious.

“See you at 7 near the statue” said Sam.
“Positive” she replied and walked away. Sam couldn’t take eyes off her. He turned around for one last glance before she disappeared in the kitchen.

Sam couldn’t stop his smile while walking back to the table. He could see the anxious face of David.

“What happened?” David asked anxiously.

“Well…….. she agreed for a date tonight” Sam said proudly.
“That call for a PARTY !!!!” Shouted David.

Sam could see every eye in the café on them. He didn’t care.

#3 The Date

Sam reached the meeting point at 6:30 he dint want to miss the greatest opportunity of his life. He couldn’t stop saying to himself about how lucky he is to get forward with a girl like that. Maybe it’s ‘luck’ as David used to say. Maybe his luck finally approached him. It was good time for him. He thought.

Time was moving too slow. His watch moved to 6 45…

He could feel every second move.

7:00 pm. Still no sign of her.
7:05 pm. Still no sign, what was the problem? He wondered. ‘may be a flat tire or something’ he thought.
7:30 pm. ‘ what’s keeping her’ he thought. He could feel the desperation inside. His heart sank. He felt cold.
8:00 pm. he couldn’t wait no longer. He looked up into the sky and tears ran down his eyes.

‘THUD’ that’s all he remembers. A horrific sound that broke the night silence.

“WAKE UP wake up” he could hear a voice say. He couldn’t recognize it though.
‘Yes it’s David’ he thought.

He opened his eyes and could see David looking at him anxiously. He looked around. He was in his bedroom.

“Yesterdays drink knocked you out huh?” David asked.

“ We had drink?” Sam asked.

“ Ya and you had many. The last one knocked you out.” David said laughing.

“I was here all night?” Sam asked anxiously.

“ Ya we started off in the after noon”, wait a minute you don’t remember a thing?” David asked.

Sam wondered whether all that was a dream or not. Sam thought may be David didn’t want to worry him about what happened yesterday. He didn’t want to ask David about what happened yesterday.
‘Was that all a dream?’ he thought. He didn’t want to know.
